Key Responsibilities

The Physics and Mathematics Librarian will be responsible for the following key areas:

  • Collection Development and Management

    Develop and implement collection development strategies to ensure that the library's collections meet the research and learning needs of faculty, students, and staff in the physics and mathematics departments.

    Collaborate with faculty and departmental administrators to identify and acquire materials that support the curriculum and research needs of the departments.

    Manage the library's collections in the areas of physics and mathematics, including the selection, acquisition, and maintenance of print and electronic resources.

  • Research and Learning Support

    Provide research and learning support services to faculty, students, and staff in the physics and mathematics departments, including:

    • Developing and delivering research workshops and training sessions on topics such as research methods, citation management, and data visualization.

    • Providing one-on-one research consultations and guidance on research projects and papers.

    • Collaborating with faculty to develop and implement research and learning initiatives that support the curriculum and research needs of the departments.

  • General Library Responsibilities

    Participate in the development and implementation of library policies and procedures, including those related to collection development, research and learning support, and library operations.

    Collaborate with other library departments and units to support the library's mission and goals.

    Represent the library in internal and external committees and organizations, as needed.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a strong background in physics and mathematics, as well as experience in collection development, research and learning support, and library operations.

Master's degree in Library Science or related field required.

Experience working in an academic library setting preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects.

Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
