About the Role:

The Youth Development Coordinator (YDC) is a vital member of our team at Jewish Family & Children's Service of Arizona. This role is responsible for assisting DCS Foster Care Youth, ages 16-24, with employment/work readiness, education achievement, and post-secondary exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct-service to youth, including assessment, skill-building, and coordination of care.
  • Engage formal and informal resources to promote successful transition into adulthood.
  • Conduct living skills workshops and work readiness/job training, while assisting in determining needs necessary for youth to pursue and reach self-sufficiency.
  • Assist youth in securing needed documentation (birth certificates, social security cards, and benefits such as Medicaid, SSI, food stamps, etc.
  • Communicate directly and regularly with other team members and outside agencies regarding youth needs and progress in order to ensure coordinated services that best meet the youth's needs.
  • Complete client record documentation professionally and on-time, using the agency's electronic medical record system and the AZ Job Connection (AJC) system.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, JFCS agency meetings, and community & client-related meetings as needed.
  • Participate in required and ongoing program training to increase knowledge of best practices and be in compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Preferred: Associate or Bachelor's Degree in a human services or related field; a combination of experience and education may substitute.
  • Experience working with DCS youth a plus.
  • Experience working with youth in structured settings.
  • Ability to be flexible as specific tasks will change with the evolution of the program.
  • Acceptance of individual differences in people.
  • Ability to work independently on specific assignments.
  • Must have dependable transportation.
