The Youth Support Services Manager (Social Support Manager) addresses the social, emotional, and familial challenges that hinder students from functioning effectively in an educational setting. This professional evaluates the issues at hand to facilitate and refer interventions that remove barriers to learning. These interventions may involve collaboration with school, family, and community resources. The integrity of this professional relationship is founded on confidentiality and may encompass initial assessments, consultations with staff and families, supportive counseling, crisis management, community referrals, and school-based support groups.

The Youth Support Services Manager significantly influences students' lives by working directly with them, supervising social work interns, and maintaining partnerships with community referral agencies. As an essential member of our support team, they collaborate with school administration, educators, success coaches, and leaders to design and execute tailored support plans for youth/students throughout their engagement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as a liaison among the School, Community, and families, providing counseling referrals, conducting home visits, and facilitating access to community resources to support youth and students in achieving effective educational engagement.
  • Connects youth and students with resources and services to address and resolve barriers and challenges.
  • Oversees a comprehensive internship program for Masters of Social Work students.
  • Develops, coordinates, and leads training sessions to promote positive youth development practices among all youth/students.
  • Manages the SNAP CAN program at ACYR.

Qualifications Required

  • A Master's Degree in Social Work is mandatory, along with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience post-degree.
  • Possession of Arizona State University School of Social Work Field Instructor certification is essential.
  • Ability to excel in a dynamic environment while demonstrating leadership and composure under pressure, maintaining high morale.
  • Experience in youth development, education, and workforce development is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with and application of positive youth development practices at all levels of work.
  • Strong public speaking, facilitation, and presentation skills are required.
  • Ability to forge meaningful connections with individuals and demonstrate understanding and compassion for low-income families.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with opportunity youth.
  • Experience with at-risk youth is advantageous.
  • Bi-lingual/bi-cultural candidates are preferred.

Candidates must possess a reputation for integrity and trustworthiness. Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may disqualify candidates based on type, number, severity, and recency. Background checks will include reference checks, employment verification, educational background, and criminal history review.

Certifications/Licenses/Other Requirements

Valid Arizona Level II Fingerprint Clearance Card and a valid Arizona Driver's License are required. Candidates must have access to an insured personal vehicle for agency-related duties.
