Role Summary
The Bilingual Case Manager I at NYAP is responsible for providing culturally competent, trauma-informed services to children under the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR). This role involves working with minors who arrive in the U.S. without a parent or legal guardian, ensuring they receive the necessary support and resources for successful reunification with caregivers.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct timely assessments and develop service plans in compliance with ORR policies.
- Maintain organized and comprehensive case files, ensuring all documentation is uploaded to ORR's UC Portal.
- Perform initial intake interviews with youth and gather essential familial and sponsorship information.
- Engage with sponsors and family members to assess their ability to care for the minors.
- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned Federal Field Specialists and Case Coordinators.
- Lead multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss case management strategies.
- Coordinate legal presentations and screenings for children in care.
- Document all interactions and maintain accurate progress notes as required.
- Facilitate communication between minors and their families or sponsors.
- Ensure the safety and timely release of children from ORR care.
- Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Master's degree in social work or equivalent experience in family or child welfare.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including on-call schedules.
- Must pass a Level II background check.
- Physical ability to supervise clients and manage various office tasks.
