About Dr. Boyd's Veterinary Resort:

We are a full-service veterinary hospital dedicated to providing exceptional care to our patients. Our top-notch veterinary staff is available 7 days a week to offer personalized healthcare options that best suit the needs of your pet.

We have an in-house laboratory, pharmacy, operating room, ultrasound room, thermal imaging, digital x-ray room, and dental suite with digital dental x-ray. Our state-of-the-art equipment allows us to provide comprehensive monitoring of vital signs during anesthetic procedures.

For many specialty surgical procedures, it is possible for board-certified surgeons to perform procedures in our operating room, with the full support and involvement of our veterinarians. We also provide post-operative convalescent care, available for patients regardless of where the surgery was performed.

Our Team:

We are seeking a Veterinary Assistant to join our team to provide exceptional care to our patients. You will work alongside other skilled Vet Assistants, support our Credentialed Veterinary Technicians and DVMs in the daily flow of the hospital.

Responsibilities and Qualifications:

  • Assist DVMs and credentialed veterinary technicians with appointments, prepping patients for surgery and minor procedures, surgical assisting, and proactively setting up for any procedures or diagnostic tests.
  • Restrain animals in a safe, efficient, and caring manner.
  • Obtain accurate vitals, obtain medical histories, and/or note any changes in a patient's condition to DVM.
  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples such as fecal, urine, and ear cytologies.
  • Care and maintenance of all medical equipment, including laboratory machines, surgical packs, anesthesia machines, and any other tools essential to daily operations.
  • High-quality client communication on patient updates and questions.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED certificate.
  • Flexible schedule, including some weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Knowledge of medical procedures and animal handling.
  • Strong communication skills, good judgment, and ability to manage stressful situations, and work with others on a team respectfully.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
