Salary range: $31.49 per hour or per month based on the role.

Position Overview

This role requires proficiency in both spoken and written Spanish.

This is a hybrid position with the option for remote work available for candidates located in the designated service areas.

The Consumer Loan Officer I role focuses on assisting both current and prospective members in the origination of various consumer loan products. This position also identifies opportunities to transfer existing loans to STCU and promotes additional services such as payment protection and GAP insurance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist members by addressing inquiries through various communication channels promptly and accurately, adhering to established standards and procedures.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all application information by reviewing credit reports, verifying collateral values, and confirming that all documentation is complete.
  • Prepare diverse loan types for funding by collaborating with loan processors and branch personnel to ensure successful transactions. Uphold our Core Values by guiding members in their financial decisions with suitable products and services.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Meet departmental goals regarding loan production, availability for calls, and the promotion of payment protection, GAP, and refinanced loans.
  • Provide comprehensive information about credit union products to members, clearly articulating the benefits of coverage.
  • Identify and recommend improvements and efficiencies within the department.
Qualifications

Education A high school diploma or equivalent is required; some college education is preferred.

Certifications Registration with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) in accordance with the SAFE Act of 2008 is mandatory.

Experience A minimum of one year of experience in consumer lending within a financial institution is required, along with at least two years of experience in customer service, call center, or sales roles in a financial setting.

Technical Skills Proficient in MS Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Other Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and tactfully with members and colleagues both in person and over the phone.

Physical Requirements Must be able to communicate effectively, operate a computer, and occasionally lift, pull, or carry up to 10 pounds with accommodations.

Work Environment Exposure to moderate noise levels typical of an office environment, along with the demands of a fast-paced, deadline-driven setting.

Additional Duties Perform other tasks as assigned to ensure the efficient operation of the department and organization, which may include temporary assignments to different locations.
