Role Overview:
The Aerospace Service Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing various facets of service center operations, ensuring the safety of personnel, the quality of work, and effective manpower planning. This role involves close coordination with customer representatives throughout the maintenance process.
Essential Duties:
- Upon aircraft arrival, ensure all necessary work authorizations are completed and conduct a comprehensive briefing with customer representatives. Assign tasks and manage projects through team leads.
- Implement and supervise a continuous safety and security program, which encompasses the operation of support equipment, aircraft systems, and adherence to lean manufacturing principles. Regular safety audits must be conducted to address any discrepancies.
- Establish a culture of safety and quality that reflects the General Dynamics brand.
- Guide and mentor team members; develop training plans, communicate performance expectations, and conduct performance evaluations.
- Pre-plan and maintain schedules through aircraft delivery and follow-up processes.
- Oversee workflow to ensure customer deadlines are met. Facilitate status meetings across departments and provide daily updates on aircraft status to management.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Avionics, Inspection, Interior, Electrical, Product Support, and Materials teams to ensure project timelines are met.
- Ensure compliance with the Repair Station Manual, corporate policies, and all regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with customer representatives to communicate updates and address any concerns during the maintenance visit.
- Lead by example, ensuring that established procedures are adhered to by all team members. Monitor costs and resources to achieve financial objectives.
Additional Qualifications:
- An A&P certificate combined with relevant aircraft experience may substitute for formal education.
- Demonstrated leadership and strong communication skills are essential for managing financial performance.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Word and Excel, is required; familiarity with MS Project is preferred.
