Job Summary

Covenant Health (Tennessee) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Service Representative II to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient service and administrative support to our patients and healthcare providers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administrative Support: Provide administrative coverage for patient service functions, including check-out operations, encounter form data collection, and balance reconciliation.
  • Communication: Answer telephone calls, route accordingly, and receive and record changes in patient information.
  • Insurance and Billing: Demonstrate familiarity with insurance procedures, knowledge of participating plans, and ensure accurate recording of procedures and diagnoses on fee slips for charge entry.
  • Scheduling and Data Management: Schedule appointments for return visits, perform end-of-day procedures, and balance work and computer records.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Collaborate with patients, physicians, and other care team members to provide a team-based approach to patient care.
  • Quality and Safety: Maintain established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; or any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill, and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job.
  • Experience: One year of experience in a medical office setting with working knowledge of clinic appointment scheduling, collection, and ICD-9/10 and CPT-4 coding (charge entry) required; or minimum three years of total customer-facing/customer service experience required.
