Position Overview:

The role of the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer involves supporting the Chief Nursing Officer in overseeing, guiding, and leading various nursing departments. This position directly manages the Education department, Nursing Support, Virtual Nursing, and Nursing Informatics, ensuring the effective direction, coordination, implementation, and completion of educational initiatives, special projects, and innovative strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Administer, analyze, and evaluate the quality of patient care delivered across departments.
  2. Provide updates to hospital management regarding patient care status, budget forecasts, and quality enhancement processes.
  3. Anticipate and assess future departmental needs to enhance patient care quality.
  4. Deliver leadership and managerial support to achieve strategic objectives while ensuring excellent patient care.

Essential Qualifications:

Experience:

A minimum of ten years of direct patient care experience as a Registered Nurse in a healthcare environment is required, along with at least seven years of management experience.

Licensure/Certification:

A valid license from the Texas Board of Nursing is mandatory. Current CPR certification is preferred, and national certification as a Nurse Leader, Nurse Executive, or in Nursing Professional Development is highly desirable.

Educational Background:

A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is essential, with a Master's degree preferred in Nursing Administration or Business Administration.

  4. In-depth knowledge of factors influencing patient care delivery and capability to lead organizational changes that enhance nursing practice.
  5. Strong analytical and reasoning skills.
  6. Proven leadership capabilities, successfully building trust and commitment among medical staff.
  7. Ability to plan and execute significant projects or change initiatives.
