About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Director of Original Programming Development at Hallmark Media. This is a key leadership position that will play a critical role in the development and production of original content for our network.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Sourcing and Evaluating Content

Identify and evaluate source material from producers and agents for original development, ensuring that it meets Hallmark Media's standards and brand guidelines.

Developing and Managing Projects

Develop and note all story materials from pitch through script and/or final delivery of each movie, keeping the creative on brand and ensuring that production meets Hallmark Media's standards.

Building Relationships with the Creative Community

Actively develop and maintain strong relationships with the creative community, including agents, writers, and producers, to identify and pursue new opportunities for original content.

Liaising with Internal Departments

Act as liaison between EPs/Production and internal departments, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration throughout the development and production process.

Providing Creative Input and Supervision

Provide creative input and supervise assigned projects through all stages of production to ensure delivery of desired, network-appropriate content.

Identifying and Evaluating Talent

Identify and evaluate directing samples of up-and-coming directors and read and assess new writer samples to ensure that they meet Hallmark Media's standards.

Reporting and Analysis

Summarize projects in development and production in written form to be distributed and create, coordinate, and distribute monthly development reports that track all projects.

Requirements

  1. Education and Experience

A Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 7 years' experience in development and production, with prior experience as a development executive for a broadcast network or cable channel.

Skills and Abilities

PC skills using Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions, as well as the ability to organize and schedule work effectively and handle multiple tasks with excellent follow-through skills.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and tactfully with persons on all levels, in person and via email and telephone.
