Job Summary

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Director of the Neuromuscular Program in the Department of Neurology. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the program to new levels of excellence in neuromuscular disorders and conducting basic, pre-clinical or translational research in this area.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop a nationally prominent clinical and/or research program in neuromuscular medicine
* Lead the Neuromuscular Program in the Department of Neurology
* Work closely with the neuromuscular fellowship director to lead the ACGME neuromuscular fellowship
* Serve as a mentor to graduate students, residents, fellows, and junior faculty
* Foster collaborative relationships and interdisciplinary research teams and encourage scholarship in the areas of research and treatment related to disorders of muscle and/or nerve

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have an MD, MD/PhD, or equivalent, and active extramural research funding that is transferable to UCLA. They will also have a strong record of publication and career development in biomedical animal- and/or human-based research, and demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring. Additionally, the candidate must have the ability to anticipate change and implement initiatives to meet the challenges of academic medicine and science, a demonstrated commitment to diversity, and excellent interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with administration, trainees, researchers, clinicians, faculty in other disciplines, and staff.

Applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research experience and interests, statement of teaching, statement of contributions to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and authorization to release information. Three to five references are also required. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. The salary range for this position is $167,900-$357,500. This position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan, which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
