Job Title: Human Resources Specialist

The Smithsonian Institution is a world-renowned museum, education, and research complex with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Office of Human Resources (OHR), Under Secretary for Administration, Smithsonian Institution (SI).

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in position management and classification, with experience in analyzing and interpreting classification guidelines to resolve complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing and evaluating position management and classification matters, including classifying position descriptions.
  • Providing technical guidance to management in the area of classification and position management.
  • Developing strategies, assessing risks, and managing projects.
Requirements:

To qualify for this position, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service or comparable pay band system related to the work of this position. This experience should include analyzing, evaluating, and making recommendations on position management and classification matters.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
