Job Description

Job Title: Controller

Job Summary:

Dogwood Industries LLC is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to lead our high-performing Finance team. The Controller will be responsible for overseeing and streamlining all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of the company's financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Develop and implement corporate cash management policies and procedures to optimize cash flow and minimize borrowing costs.
  • Evaluate strategic investment opportunities and recommend strategies to maximize returns while mitigating risk in accordance with Dogwood's risk tolerance level.
  • Collaborate with Senior Accountant to prepare and present cash flow projections, investment performance reports, and other financial analyses to Ownership for strategic planning.
  • Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial statements.
  • Responsible for the annual budgeting process and providing variance analysis to track performance against budgeted targets.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Analyze financial data and trends to provide insights and recommendations for improving financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard Dogwood assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, and ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Collaborate with Senior Accountant and department leaders to develop and monitor departmental budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to members of the accounting team, fostering their professional development and growth.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Experience with construction or industrial fabrication is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • US Citizen.
