Position Summary

We are in search of a seasoned and meticulous Financial Controller to spearhead our dynamic Finance team. The Controller will take charge of all facets of financial management, encompassing accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional analytical abilities, a comprehensive grasp of accounting principles, and the capacity to offer strategic financial insights to Ownership. In addition to overseeing daily financial operations, the Controller will mentor and guide the accounting team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all dimensions of the organization's financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Formulate and execute corporate cash management policies to enhance cash flow and reduce borrowing expenses.
  • Assess strategic investment prospects and propose strategies to optimize returns while managing risk in line with Dogwood's risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Accountant to prepare and present cash flow forecasts, investment performance analyses, and other financial evaluations to Ownership for strategic planning.
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring the accuracy and punctuality of financial statements.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and provide variance analysis to monitor performance against budgeted objectives.
  • Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions to guarantee precision and efficiency.
  • Analyze financial data and trends to deliver insights and recommendations for enhancing financial performance and operational efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to protect Dogwood's assets and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends, ensuring compliance with relevant requirements.
  • Work alongside the Senior Accountant and department leaders to develop and oversee departmental budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to accounting team members, fostering their professional growth.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA certification is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial position.
  • Profound understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven leadership skills, with a history of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Detail-oriented, committed to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis.
  • Proficient in accounting software and financial systems; experience with ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with construction or industrial fabrication is a plus.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and effectively manage competing priorities.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $105K - $135K annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
