Position Overview

The Staff Accountant is responsible for delivering financial accounting services in alignment with company policies, client requirements, and regulatory standards.

Access to Sensitive Information
The role entails minimum necessary access to Protected Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) as defined by the Job Description/Role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including the preparation and entry of journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and revenue summaries.
  • Disseminate monthly financial reports, investigate and rectify discrepancies in income statements, and address inquiries from branches.
  • Review financial statements for external audit purposes.
  • Assist in the formulation, execution, and oversight of internal accounting systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and reporting obligations.
  • Conduct accrual accounting tasks, including the preparation and analysis of journal entries and financial statements.
  • Compile financial statements and schedules for auditors and various management reports.
  • Act as the primary contact for inquiries, issues, and exceptions related to account reconciliations and financial reporting.
  • Monitor assigned accounts to ensure adequate funding; manage cash transfers as necessary.
  • File 941 and 945 forms and ensure timely submission of 990 and 5500 filings.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
  • At least one year of experience in an accounting position.
  • Comprehensive understanding of standard accounting principles and practices.
  • Proficient in accounting software.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with a keen attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional customer service abilities and effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a third-party administration, insurance, or health and welfare setting.
  • Prior experience in Taft-Hartley trust administration.
