Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sales Manager to join our team at Heartland Express. As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining a customer base in the assigned sales area by presenting and promoting our services. You will provide cost-effective solutions to foster the relationship and profitability of the account.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a customer base in the assigned territory, travel required.
  • Utilize our CRM to capture the voice of the customer and manage customer workflow by documenting leads, opportunities, activities, and appointments to maintain a 360-degree view of the customer.
  • Provide rates as requested by existing and potential customers.
  • Analyze account and territory performance and determine the course of action if necessary.
  • Grow OTR business, as well as other areas of our business such as LTL in Mexico, Intermodal, Dedicated, Regional, and Cartage.
  • Monitor the productivity and efficiency of equipment in the assigned territory and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with Operations personnel and other Sales Managers to resolve customer concerns.
  • Maintain a balanced network within your territory.
  • Prepare territory reports.
  • Assist with accounts receivables.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one (1) year related sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with personnel in customer or vendor organizations in accomplishing desired objectives/results for the company.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of personal computers, including Microsoft Office.
  • Proven skill in negotiating with customers in completing transactions and producing win-win results.
  • Proven skill in oral and written communications, with the ability to prepare and deliver concise, understandable reports and presentations.
  • Successful completion of the CFI Sales Manager training course.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

The duties of this job are performed in both an office environment and a light industrial environment, thereby experiencing some minor to moderate level of noise due to office equipment and industrial equipment. The employee is frequently required to travel to meetings or other engagements by automobile, airplane, or other method of travel. If the employee drives a car in these instances, the employee must have all capabilities needed to do so safely.
