Volunteer Engagement Coordinator

Your Role:
Enhance meaningful and effective volunteer opportunities through exceptional hospitality and genuine interactions. Guide groups in assembling meals for those in need, solicit contributions, ensure compliance with food and personnel safety standards, manage warehousing activities, and support site projects and initiatives.
Compensation, Schedule & Benefits:
- Hourly wage of $17.00. This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
- Regular work hours include a mix of weekdays, evenings, and Saturdays, depending on staffing requirements. Availability on Sundays and holidays may be necessary.
- Participation in monthly training sessions and meetings is mandatory.
- Benefits include health insurance, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, paid time off, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision coverage, among others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design a memorable and impactful volunteer experience. Communicate our mission to volunteers and encourage their continued involvement. Provide outstanding hospitality by warmly welcoming volunteers, answering inquiries, and expressing gratitude for their contributions.
- Deliver engaging presentations to large groups, sharing stories of food impact and information about our organization.
- Encourage volunteers to contribute financially. Explain how they can support our mission through their time, resources, and prayers.
- Promote various campaigns, events, and MarketPlaceTM items tailored to the interests of each volunteer.
- Coordinate meal packing sessions. Anticipate needs, proactively address challenges, and adapt to the dynamic nature of a volunteer workforce.
- Prepare and organize supplies for volunteer activities.
- Conduct an introductory presentation, guiding volunteers on safe food packing and supply handling.
- Manage time effectively, oversee transitions, adapt to changing production demands, and monitor output.
- Lead a prayer over the packaged meals and invite volunteers to participate.
- Conclude sessions with a presentation that encourages donations and handle transactions using a cash register.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility: perform laundry, clean floors, dishes, and restrooms multiple times daily.
- Adhere to food safety, quality, and volunteer safety protocols. Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.
- Assist with site projects and initiatives in designated areas, such as contacting group leaders, implementing safety measures, managing inventory, reorganizing materials, or training peers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Strong commitment to the organization's mission and values.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Physically capable of performing tasks for 4-8 hour shifts, including walking and standing for extended periods, and lifting 30-50 lbs. as needed.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to assist others.
- Confident and enthusiastic when communicating with individuals and groups.
- Focus on hospitality: able to recognize and address volunteer needs, building rapport and maintaining relationships.
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
- Respectful of diverse beliefs, backgrounds, and abilities of volunteers and supporters.
- Able to work in an environment with consistent exposure to allergens.
