Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to join our team in the Sustainability department. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in sustainability and related fields, as well as contributing to the development of curriculum and programs.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in sustainability and related fields, including lectures and lab classes as determined by the department.
  • Develop and implement curriculum and programs in sustainability and related fields.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
  • Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Teach all scheduled classes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degrees must be from accredited institutions.
  • Master's degree in Anthropology or Archaeology; OR, Bachelor's degree in Anthropology or Archaeology AND Master's degree in Sociology, Biological Sciences, Forensic Sciences, Genetics, or Paleontology; OR, Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Anthropology or Archaeology; OR, Master's degree in any biological science; OR, Bachelor's degree in any biological science AND a Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or Marine Science; OR, Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Biological Sciences; OR, Master's degree in Philosophy; OR, Bachelor's degree in Philosophy AND Master's degree in Humanities or Religious Studies; OR, Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Philosophy and Religion; OR, Master's degree in Geography; OR, Bachelor's degree in Geography AND Master's degree in Geology, History, Meteorology, or Oceanography; OR, Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Geography; OR, Master's degree in Sociology; OR, Bachelor's degree in Sociology AND a Master's degree in Anthropology, any ethnic studies, Social Work, or Psychology; OR, Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in Sociology; OR, The equivalent.

Equivalency If you do not possess the exact degrees listed above or if you anticipate receiving the required degree prior to the start of teaching classes, please complete a "Request for Equivalency Form" and attach it during the application process. Foreign Degree: Applicants with foreign degrees from colleges or universities outside of the United States must have their coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) or Academic Credentials Evaluation Institute, INC.(ACEI). A copy of the evaluation must be submitted with your on-line application. Licenses/Certificates/Credentials: [If possess] California Community College Instructor Credential (valid for life) in any of the following: Anthropology, Archaeology, any Biological Science, Philosophy, or Sociology. Conditions of Employment

SELECTED CANDIDATE IS REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT:

  • Submit "official" college transcripts as stated on application (even if a degree is not a requirement for this position);
  • Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (Note: The certificate must be renewed every 4 years as a condition of continuing employment);
  • Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the district's expense (Clearance must be received prior to first day of employment); AND
  • Presentation of original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
