Position Summary:

We are in search of a skilled Commercial Lines Underwriter III who will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of commercial lines accounts through designated agencies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and nurture robust relationships with agencies.
  • Effectively oversee an agency territory to meet growth and profitability targets.
  • Evaluate risks and exposures on both new and existing accounts to identify opportunities for enhancing territory growth and maintaining loss ratio objectives.
  • Utilize established underwriting authority and best practices to assess operations and exposures of various risk types for writing, renewing, or modifying business.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in managing high-risk business scenarios.
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of the field and recognized expertise in specific areas.
  • Mentor team members proactively, enhancing their effectiveness in various knowledge or skill areas.
  • Showcase a high level of knowledge regarding coverages, forms, symbols, and endorsements relevant to each line of business.
  • Concentrate primarily on acquiring new business in alignment with annual regional goals.
  • Apply extensive rating knowledge and experience, including composite and scheduled rating methodologies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven time management abilities with a track record of meeting deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with sound business judgment.
  • In-depth understanding of rating concepts.
  • Proficient in utilizing various core systems, office equipment, and software applications.
  • Bachelor's degree in insurance, finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Ideal Candidate Attributes:

  • Exceptional organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
  • Solid understanding of industry practices, standards, and underwriting principles.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a commercial lines underwriting capacity.
  • Relevant certifications such as CPCU, AU, or CIC are preferred.

Compensation Overview:

The compensation range for this position is between $63,600 and $95,400 annually. The actual base pay offered may vary based on the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience, as well as other factors related to the role's scope and location.
