Mental Health Therapist Job Description

The Mental Health Therapist is a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive and culturally sensitive social work interventions to patients. This role involves conducting thorough psychosocial assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and facilitating group and individual therapy sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
  • Facilitate group and individual therapy sessions, including crisis interventions and brief supportive therapy.
  • Maintain timely and thorough documentation of social work assessments, interventions, and planning.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure seamless patient care and coordinate aftercare services.
  • Act as a patient advocate, maintaining confidentiality and promoting the patient's best interests.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) or Mental Health Counseling (MHC) from an accredited Graduate Program.
  • NYS Department of Education License or Limited Permit License to practice as an LMSW, LCSW, LMHC.
  • Two years post-graduate experience in a medical, mental health, or human services setting as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
