ERM is seeking a Lead Specialist in Environmental Regulations. This position is open to candidates across the United States. The ideal applicant will possess a background in natural sciences and have substantial experience in managing and coordinating Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) application submissions for natural gas initiatives. It is highly desirable for the candidate to have expertise in developing documentation and permitting strategies for FERC. The successful individual will bring a minimum of 8 years of pertinent experience, particularly with intricate capital development projects, including natural gas pipeline systems and liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.

The chosen candidate will have proven experience with environmental siting and impact evaluations under NEPA (National Environmental Policy Act) for energy infrastructure projects, securing federal and state permits, along with exceptional technical writing and communication skills. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Act as the primary author for FERC resource reports. Conduct research, analyze, and compile data for permit applications and reports to various regulatory bodies. Serve as a subject matter expert on large-scale and complex projects, addressing elements such as scope and delivery requirements, planning, coordinating fieldwork and other technical tasks, and managing health, safety, and risk considerations. Collaborate on multiple projects simultaneously, including major natural gas and LNG capital development initiatives throughout the United States. Assist in technical proposals and engage in business development with existing clients. Interact with key regulatory agencies, including but not limited to the FERC, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, National Marine Fisheries Service, Environmental Protection Agency, federal land management agencies, and State Historic Preservation Offices. Provide technical or subject matter expertise on FERC applications, impact assessment deliverables, and overall quality control review.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in environmental studies, environmental management, wetland science, planning, geography, or a related field of natural resources science. A minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in permitting FERC-regulated capital development projects. Proven ability to research and prepare clear and precise technical documents, including presenting findings to clients, stakeholders, and/or regulatory agencies. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with strong organizational and analytical capabilities; experience in documenting detailed technical data and reports. Ability to manage multiple tasks, maintain adaptability, travel, and work independently with minimal oversight. Experience with federal, state, and local permitting for development projects. Background in overseeing and coordinating desktop and online studies or research on natural resource or resource planning topics, Geographic Information System, and map interpretation (National Wetland Inventory, U.S. Geological Survey, aerial photography). Demonstrated ability to build rapport with project team members, possessing excellent interpersonal skills, being responsive, collaborative, versatile, effective in a fast-paced environment, and service-oriented. Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

The anticipated annual base pay for the Managing Consultant, Environmental Regulatory Specialist (Senior Level) position ranges from $76,000 to $94,860 (USD). The specific pay position within this range will depend on various factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and organizational needs. Additionally, this role is eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus.
