Qualifications

Essential Skills and Knowledge

The Environmental Remediation Technician will possess a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between environmental hazards and human health within constructed spaces. Proficiency in sampling and analyzing potential hazards is essential. A solid scientific background with a keen interest in environmental health impacts is required.

Core Responsibilities Include:
  • Conducting tests and analyses to identify, mitigate, and manage occupational health risks.
  • Collecting samples of dust, gases, vapors, and other potentially harmful materials for laboratory analysis.
  • Assessing the adequacy of ventilation, exhaust systems, lighting, and other factors that may influence employee health and productivity.
  • Gathering building material samples to evaluate asbestos presence, mold growth, and other hazardous substances.
  • Evaluating exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and noise, recommending protective measures.
  • Performing field measurements and safety evaluations related to industrial hygiene.
  • Assessing workplaces for health hazards through observation, record review, interviews, sampling, and monitoring of chemical or physical agents.
  • Determining and executing appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies.
  • Maintaining, operating, and calibrating various sampling and monitoring equipment.
  • Interpreting monitoring results, making informed decisions, and developing corrective action plans.
  • Preparing detailed technical reports of findings.
