Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Admissions and Financial Aid Officer to join our team at Georgetown University Medical Center. The successful candidate will serve as a primary contact for prospective students, maintaining a portion of the 17,000+ applications for six programs within the School of Medicine and responding to questions and concerns regarding admissions policies, procedures, course requirements, and other related information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate our mission and vision with the purpose of maximizing the quality of applicants to the medical school through graduate fairs, virtual fairs, presentations, and social media
  • Participate in evaluating application credentials on a portion of the completed files for a first-round application cognitive and non-cognitive review based on general criteria established by the Committee on Admissions and the Senior Associate Dean for Admissions
  • Work directly with applicants - prospective, interviewed, wait-listed, and accepted, to present an overview of the School of Medicine (philosophy, curriculum, school resources, and student life) and the application process to medical schools
  • Ensure successful management of the application management system and regularly interact with outside vendors, the general public, prospective applicants, and current applicants
  • Assist in the processing and maintenance of student's financial aid applications at the School of Medicine
  • Collaborate with the other Officers on the team to maintain an up-to-date understanding of state, federal, and institutional legal, fiscal, and statutory regulations pertaining to financial aid and assure compliance for the School of Medicine
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with MS Excel and Access
  • Working knowledge of student information systems, with experience in SCT's BANNER desirable
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Proven ability to interact with all members of a team and administrative staff in a professional and courteous manner
  • Some experience in Web Design or related activities for the purpose of updating content of Financial Aid Web Site
  • Strong cross-cultural interpersonal and writing skills, including public speaking skills, and the ability to present the University in a positive way to diverse populations
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of experience working in Admissions and/or Financial Aid
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • High comfort level working with data
  • Excellent communication and organization skills - written and verbal - and attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work on deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FERPA
