Job Summary

The Manager of Financial Aid Counseling position at Georgetown University is responsible for providing financial aid awarding and counseling services to current and prospective students and their families. The Manager will be responsible for understanding and communicating information about all federal, state, private, and institutional aid and work study programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and process financial aid applications, supporting financial aid programs and Outreach initiatives.
• Manage a large active caseload, process applications in a timely manner, counsel students, and administer dollars related to scholarship, loan, and work programs.
• Provide detailed application reviews, audits, and financial counseling, monitoring enrollment status and reviewing/understanding emergency circumstances.

Work Interactions

The Manager of Financial Aid Counseling will serve as a primary resource and first point of contact for Law Center students, parents, Faculty, and Staff, as well as external or university departments. The Manager will be required to have face to face interactions with the community and communicate through multiple mediums.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; In lieu of a bachelor's degree, 3-5 years of comparable financial aid experience is acceptable.
• Financial counseling, customer service, and administrative experience.
• Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data, communicate clearly, and use independent and appropriate judgement with a diverse client population.
• A commitment to continuous quality improvement and customer service.
• A thorough understanding of federal, state, and financial aid programs.
• Experience with Banner, Formstack, Web applications, COGNOS, and higher education preferred.
