The Opportunity:

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced college admissions counselor to join our team. As a key member of our admissions team, you'll work closely with students and families to craft a unique and compelling application story, leveraging your expertise in college admissions software, application platforms, and financial aid processes.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement individualized plans for high school students, including course selection, academic interest exploration, and extracurricular activities.
  2. Conduct ongoing research on school profiles, course catalogs, and academic programs to provide informed guidance to students and families.
  3. Collaborate with students and families to create a comprehensive college application strategy, including Early Decision, Restrictive Early Action, and Regular Decision options.
  4. Provide expert guidance on financial aid processes, scholarship options, and other forms of assistance.
  5. Stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in college admissions, ensuring that our students and families receive the best possible support.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of five years of experience as an admissions officer or reader at a selective college, including experience as a high school counselor, independent counselor, or college counseling professional in a business setting.
  • A thorough understanding of the high school curriculum, AP, IB, and standardized tests, including the ACT and SAT.
  • Experience working with students in grades 7-12, transfer applications, and private/boarding school applicants.
  • A proven track record of student success in various academic programs, including specializations, direct med, engineering, and more.
  • Expertise in differentiating student applications and building an impressive portfolio.
  • Experience with athletic recruitment and other specialized endeavors.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with a strong understanding of the current admissions landscape.
  • A fun, knowledgeable, and motivating team player with expertise in Naviance, Scoir, and other college admissions software.
  • Thorough knowledge of the college process, different types of schools, resources, and environments.
  • A proven track record of placing students in selective colleges, prestigious high school internships, and other extracurricular activities.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial aid process, scholarship options, and other forms of assistance.
