Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Patrol and Surveillance: Conduct regular patrols of university property to prevent and detect crime, and to ensure the safety and security of our community.
  • Law Enforcement: Enforce state and local laws, as well as university regulations, to maintain order and protect individuals and property.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations, such as accidents, crimes, and medical emergencies, and provide assistance as needed.
  • Community Engagement: Build relationships with students, staff, and visitors to promote a sense of community and safety.
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations into crimes and incidents, and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Training and Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on the latest law enforcement techniques and procedures.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; non-academy applicants must be eligible to enter and successfully complete a Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee-approved full-time municipal police academy.
  • License and Certification: Ability to obtain a Class A License to carry a firearm in Massachusetts and certification in firearms proficiency within 6 months of hire.
  • Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a team environment; ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position that requires working a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The successful candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to respond to emergency situations as needed.
