Overview

As a Field Service Specialist I at Quarterhill, you will be an integral part of our roadside maintenance team. Your primary focus will be on delivering proactive preventive maintenance and addressing failures on tolling systems, ensuring safety and responsibility in all tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance, Installation, Configuration Support, and Troubleshooting for:
  • Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Video surveillance equipment, including cameras and lighting for image capture
  • Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) readers
  • Vehicle detection systems such as Inductive Loops, Treadles, and Optical Sensors
  • Networking equipment for Local and Wide Area Networks
Monitoring and Performance Management
  • Conduct performance monitoring of systems both on-site and remotely.
  • Ensure that system performance aligns with established specifications.
  • Optimize system performance within defined parameters.
Service Agreements
  • Deliver responsive field and remote service for all assigned systems.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on all equipment.
  • Assist the Operations Project Manager in fulfilling client requirements.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Degree or Diploma in Electronics or a related field
  • Equivalent military training
  • A combination of training and relevant work experience
Work Environment
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme conditions.
  • Must successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Record check and background checks as necessary.
  • Capable of working at heights up to 40 feet using bucket trucks, ladders, or other means.
  • OSHA certifications may be required.
Preferred Maintenance Experience with:
  • Toll collection systems
  • Military electronics fields such as Avionics and Communications
  • PC and Server maintenance
  • RFID system maintenance
  • Security and surveillance system maintenance
