Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Intern to join our team at The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. As a Construction Intern, you will assist our VDC and project teams in all phases of a project, from initiation to turnover. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on practical experience in the construction field with a specialization in Virtual Building practices and Digital Technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the creation of 3D models to support various use cases, including site logistics planning, 3D printing applications, and virtual mock-ups.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers, and owners to mitigate construction conflicts uncovered during the virtual building process.
  • Support prefabrication and offsite construction practices.
  • Use a total station to support digital layout.
  • Develop 3D as-built deliverables.
  • Assist with integrated digital turnover and the development of digital twins.
  • Perform general construction tasks, including writing RFIs, responding to subcontractor RFIs, and interfacing with subcontractors.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management, Construction Technology.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and basic business principles sufficient to project and monitor expenses.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Ability to read and understand technical specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, product/material installation instructions, and engineering/architectural drawings.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

This is a 10-12 week internship, with the possibility of extension. You will be working 40 hours per week, with the possibility of relocation to remote sites. Housing may be provided in certain situations.
