About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at Paychex. As a key member of our Corporate Accounting department, you will play a critical role in upholding the integrity of our financial statements and ensuring compliance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and other relevant professional financial standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Conduct month-end financial close tasks, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Independently perform complex accounting or financial analysis, reporting, and account reconciliations, as assigned.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Report reconciliation items to appropriate business partners by providing detailed information to ensure timely resolution and accurate transactions, in adherence to Sarbanes Oxley regulations and standards.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Assist in implementing and maintaining appropriate internal and operational controls, as well as recommending improvements to controls, to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley regulations and standards.
  • Team Collaboration and Communication: Represent the department on teams and projects to ensure that department needs are met and actions of the team are in line with departmental goals. Clearly communicate impact to the department.
  • Process Improvement and Documentation: Assist in the establishment of department procedures. Maintain accurate documentation of processes and updates, as needed.
  • Time Management and Prioritization: Effectively manage and schedule time to meet various internal and external deadlines.
  • Financial Data Analysis and Interpretation: Collaborate with internal departments to gather, analyze, and interpret relevant financial data.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business - Required
  • 4 years of experience in a related field
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Demonstrates written communication skills
  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
  • Performs work independently with minimal supervision
  • Certified Public Accountant - Preferred
Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $52,780 - $82,940 annually. Please note that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position.
