Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for a Senior Project Financial Analyst to become a vital part of our team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with project managers and financial teams to deliver comprehensive accounting support and insightful financial analysis. Your responsibilities will encompass the evaluation and reconciliation of billing and revenue discrepancies, executing revenue recognition tasks during month-end processes, and partnering with project leadership to oversee and budget projects effectively. This position may also involve overseeing project accounting staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and document project billing and revenue discrepancies, assisting project managers in resolving issues.

• Investigate and document Work In Progress (WIP) versus unbilled variances, ensuring timely processing of billings.

• Manage monthly revenue recognition for assigned projects, including thorough investigation, documentation, and resolution of any issues that arise.

• Aid in the setup of complex projects and tasks within our accounting systems.

• Ensure project setups in our systems comply with contractual agreements.

• Prepare preliminary invoices for Project Managers and collaborate on necessary adjustments, focusing on highly complex projects.

• Handle various contract billing types, including time & material, cost-plus fixed fee, lump sum, and fixed unit terms.

• Review invoices from subconsultants to confirm compliance with project contractual terms and accurate coding.

• Finalize and submit client invoices, which may involve preparing additional documentation and expense backup.

• Work alongside Project Managers to monitor and report on the financial status of their projects.

• Support budgeting and pricing strategies for projects.

• Assist with forecasting, backlog assessments, and burn rate evaluations.

• Provide analysis for staff utilization.

• Conduct project close-out evaluations.

• Review complex client invoices for accuracy and compliance.

• Compile information for internal and external audits as required.

• Train other team members as necessary.

• May involve supervising project accounting personnel.

• Perform additional accounting tasks or special projects as required.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance.
  • Associate's Degree with relevant experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience performing Project Accountant II duties with demonstrated proficiency.
  • Experience in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction (A/E/C) sector is preferred.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English for effective communication in job-related contexts.
Compensation: $66,000-91,000K DOQ.
