Position: Senior Civil Engineering Specialist (Water/Wastewater)

Reports To: Project Manager

Status: Full-time, Exempt

Key Focus Areas:
  • Advanced Design
  • Project Workflow Management
  • Supervision of Engineering Activities
Main Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design of intricate projects, encompassing grading, drainage, and utility systems.
  • Formulate project objectives and strategies for proposals while identifying essential sub-consultants.
  • Generate fee and cost estimates.
  • Conduct final reviews of utility models and drainage reports, providing necessary approvals.
  • Ensure timely and budget-compliant project deliverables.
  • Guarantee adherence to relevant codes, policies, practices, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Facilitate communication with internal and external project teams and clients.
  • Develop project strategies and workflows for straightforward projects to maintain profitability.
  • Assist in crafting project strategies and workflows for complex projects.
  • Regularly update the Project Manager on project progress, highlighting any concerns.
  • Review engineering tasks and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Support Project Managers in construction administration and oversight.
  • Provide assistance for entitlement and public processes.
  • Address basic requests for information (RFIs) with guidance.
  • Prepare grant applications for public works initiatives.
  • Supervise the preparation of technical reports.
  • Mentor project team members.
  • Collaborate effectively with the project manager and other participants to offer assistance and technical support.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of timecards.
  • May require attendance at project team and public meetings outside regular hours.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Aim for a 75-85% Billable Utilization Rate. Non-billable activities include company meetings, professional development, community involvement, innovation time, and training.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, Construction Management, or a related Engineering discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in project planning and execution.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with scheduling software.
  • Professional knowledge of Civil 3D, Microstation, Bluebeam, and Pipe Networks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance.
Licensure Requirements:
  • Professional Engineering License.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit.
  • Occasional visits to project sites may be required.
  • Normal hearing range is necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. occasionally.
  • Prolonged sitting with some time spent bending and reaching.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient for operating a computer keyboard and calculator.
  • Work environment consistent with standard office noise levels.
