This esteemed academic medical institution is in search of a full-time, board-certified or board-eligible OB/GYN to become a vital part of our Faculty team.

Key Responsibilities

The OB/GYN Faculty Member will support the Program Director in various aspects of the academic curriculum. Core faculty members are expected to comply with the ACGME program standards for patient care without the involvement of residents.

  • Clinical Duties (90%) - Maintain staff privileges at all affiliated hospitals and facilities while engaging in academic work rounds and attending rounds. Faculty will be responsible for delivering high-quality education in a clinical setting, serving a diverse patient population, including those who are medically underserved and low-income. On-call duties will be scheduled according to the OB/GYN on-call roster, which may encompass weeknight, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Provide clinical oversight, alongside other faculty members, for resident clinics, outpatient procedures, and inpatient environments, including the assessment of residents and/or medical students in the hospitals.
  • Maintain an independent practice without educational obligations for medical students and residents.
  • Supervise residents and/or students participating in electives and inpatient services.
  • Administrative Responsibilities - Engage in departmental leadership roles, medical directorships, and other administrative tasks.
  • Research Contributions (5%) - Actively participate in the departmental research initiatives on an ongoing basis. This involves dedicating an average of one day per month to scholarly activities, which may include regional or national presentations, research mentoring, and peer-reviewed publications as mandated by ACGME. A strong interest and experience in research are essential.
  • Educational Contributions (5%) - Assist in the design and execution of training and educational programs related to the residency program, which fall under the purview of Medical Education Partners, including clinics, outpatient services, and community programs. Additionally, support the evaluation of these programs.
  • Contribute to the annual curriculum for conferences and oversee resident and/or medical student presentations at these events, both in the clinic and affiliated hospitals.
  • Deliver lectures on pertinent topics during routine conferences, Grand Rounds, and other educational sessions required for the residency program.
  • Assist the program in assessing residents at all stages of their training.
  • Participate in clerkship student conferences throughout each rotation.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree
  • Eligible for licensure in the state of Michigan
  • Board-eligible or certified in OB/GYN
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance license
  • Must fulfill credentialing criteria
  • Preferred leadership or educational experience
