Position Overview:
The College for Creative Studies (CCS) seeks applications for a full-time faculty position in Printmaking. This role is integral to the Studio Art and Craft Department within the Undergraduate Studies Division, focusing on the development and leadership of the Printmaking curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
Beginning in the upcoming academic year, the successful candidate will:
- Teach three courses each semester, guiding undergraduate students specializing in Studio Art.
- Oversee the Printmaking facilities, ensuring the maintenance of classrooms and equipment, managing inventory, and collaborating with work-study students.
- Work alongside adjunct faculty to coordinate and enhance the Printmaking curriculum and teaching methodologies.
CCS faculty are encouraged to engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the department, college, and broader artistic community.
Qualifications:Applicants must possess an MFA in Printmaking and have at least two to three years of teaching experience in higher education. A successful candidate will demonstrate proficiency in various Printmaking techniques, including Lithography, Relief, and Intaglio, with additional skills in Screen-printing, Letterpress, and Book Arts being advantageous.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Printmaking history and contemporary practices, encompassing both traditional and digital methods. Experience in teaching upper-level interdisciplinary courses is a plus.
Additional Requirements:- Active professional practice and expertise in diverse Printmaking techniques.
- Ability to mentor students from varied backgrounds dedicated to multiple art and design disciplines.
- Knowledge of contemporary art theories and practices.
- Commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in pedagogy and community engagement.
This position operates within a professional office and educational environment, with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions.
Physical Demands:Employees must be able to perform essential functions, including maintaining a stationary position, utilizing office equipment, and communicating effectively in various formats. Interaction with faculty, staff, and students is frequent, and the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds may be required.
