Position Overview: The Henry Ford Department of General Internal Medicine is actively seeking a board eligible/certified Internist to fulfill the role of a core faculty clinician-educator within a vibrant urban residency program and diverse patient demographic. We welcome applications from both ambulatory and hospitalist physicians who possess teaching and/or research experience.

Mission Statement: Our dual mission focuses on enhancing the health and wellness of our community while nurturing the next generation of healthcare leaders through direct patient care, clinical training initiatives, research endeavors, and quality enhancement efforts. We support patients and their families in maintaining health, managing chronic illnesses, and navigating complex health conditions.

Collaborative Care Model: Both inpatient and outpatient services operate under a collaborative, team-based approach. The Academic Patient Centered Team Care (A-PCTC) clinic represents an innovative patient-centered medical home dedicated to addressing the needs of medically and socially complex adult patients and their families. Outpatient teams benefit from the expertise of integrated health psychologists, nurse-led chronic disease management protocols, case managers, social workers, pharmacists, community health workers, and diabetes educators. Inpatient teams are supported by integrated pharmacists, nurse case managers, and social workers.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver direct clinical care to both ambulatory and hospitalized patients, overseeing the care provided by housestaff and medical students.
  2. Engage in limited on-call duties, shared among outpatient clinic providers.
  3. Adhere to institutional policies regarding professional work, including credentialing, documentation, and billing.
  4. Collaborate effectively with members of the extended inter-professional team.

Qualifications:

  • Board Certified/Eligible in Internal Medicine.
  • Proven experience in managing a range of conditions and promoting wellness in the adult population.
  • Experience in teaching and development within an academic environment.
  • Commitment to advancing the academic mission of the Division.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or a commitment to doing so as a faculty member.
