Job Summary:

The Executive Sous Chef of Residential Dining will oversee the daily operations of the Residential Dining department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food and exceptional customer service to the Brown University community. This role will provide leadership and guidance to the culinary team, driving innovation and excellence in menu development, food presentation, and production.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead the culinary team in the development and implementation of menu concepts, ensuring alignment with Brown University's culinary vision and standards.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the Residential Dining department, including food production, inventory management, and quality control.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef and other department leaders to drive innovation and excellence in culinary services.
  • Develop and implement training programs for culinary staff, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Monitor and analyze sales and expense reports, making recommendations for process improvements and cost savings.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited culinary school or program, or equivalent combination of education and culinary experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience leading a culinary staff, preferably in a high-volume operation and/or in a union environment.
  • RI Food Safety Manager Certification or equivalency required.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
