Job Title: Assistant Director of Financial Aid

Join the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's Department of Financial Aid as an Assistant Director of Financial Aid. This is a regular full-time, exempt position that reports to the Director of Financial Aid.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid will be responsible for coordinating and conducting staff training on federal and institutional regulations, reviewing institutional policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, and providing guidance and oversight on the development and implementation of federally compliant consumer information.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and conduct staff training on federal and institutional regulations.
  • Review institutional policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Provide guidance and oversight on the development and implementation of federally compliant consumer information.
  • Assist the Director with responding to auditor questions or requests.
  • Develop and evaluate internal quality control processes to monitor OSFA work for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Process R2T4 for all officially and unofficially withdrawn students.
  • Develop and maintain an expert-level knowledge of federal and state financial aid rules and regulations.
  • Represent the OSFA in meetings and committees as assigned by the Director.
  • Regularly participate in forums, listservs, webinars, and training opportunities provided by FSA and professional associations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of experience working in a financial aid office.
  • Extensive knowledge of regulations, policies, and procedures governing federal financial aid programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Previous experience working in financial aid compliance, including federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
  • Experience developing and conducting training sessions and materials.
  • Previous experience calculating R2T4 refunds.
Working Conditions:

This is a regular full-time, exempt position. The successful candidate must be able to show acceptable documentation establishing the right to accept employment in the United States of America without employer sponsorship.
