Position Overview

Are you ready to take on a challenging role in utility project management? As a Utility Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing complex utility coordination, design, and relocation projects. This position demands a high level of accountability for budget management related to utility design and relocation within transportation improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage utility projects, including the engagement of on-call consultants, preparing scopes of work, and coordinating estimates from utility providers.
  • Develop contractual agreements for approval and manage the processing of invoices for timely payments.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in project management practices, ensuring effective collaboration with consulting design engineers, contractors, and internal staff.
  • Work closely with utility companies and agency partners to ensure that utility designs align with roadway designs and comply with relevant regulations.
  • Proactively resolve complex utility conflicts, balancing safety, schedule, design, and budget considerations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain comprehensive communication with stakeholders, representing the organization at utility and agency meetings.

Work Environment

This role involves both office and fieldwork, with potential exposure to various environmental conditions. The position may require physical activity, including lifting and significant walking or standing.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of four years of experience in construction communications, utility coordination, or related fields.
  • An associate's degree in construction management, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • A valid driver's license is required, with the ability to obtain one if not currently held.

Preferred Skills

  • An associate's degree in management communication is advantageous.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both individually and in group settings.
  • Proven experience in conflict resolution and problem-solving.
