Job Summary

The Sous Chef will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Foods Department. This includes assisting the Kitchen Management team with tasks such as opening and closing procedures, inventory management, and staff supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to maintain high-quality standards in food preparation and presentation.
  • Ensure efficient and timely food production by managing staff and resources effectively.
  • Meet established deadlines for food preparation and presentation.
  • Implement and maintain high sanitation standards, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Provide training and on-the-job instruction to staff members.
  • Develop and maintain recipe standards to ensure consistency in food quality.
  • Ensure that food is fresh, properly seasoned, and attractively displayed.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure that food meets specifications.
  • Manage staff scheduling to meet workload requirements.
  • Monitor staff productivity to maximize efficiency and meet budgetary guidelines.
  • Manage food costs and assist with inventory control.
  • Compile and distribute food orders and labels as necessary.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in culinary science or related field (desired).
  • At least 2 years of experience as a Sous Chef.
  • Strong understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Proven record of kitchen and staff management.
  • Ability to handle emergency situations and provide solutions.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices.
  • Working knowledge of computer software programs (MS Office, etc.).
