Position Overview

We are seeking a Bridge CAD Technician to contribute to our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop technical drawings for bridge design initiatives, leveraging a solid understanding of geometry and structural components, guided by the structural team.
  • Utilize drafting tools to execute tasks such as 2D and 3D modeling, design modifications, general arrangement drawings, redlining, plotting, and drafting on CAD platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with design originators to create drawings or computer models of intricate designs, ensuring multiple views and detailed representations.
  • Generate comprehensive preliminary designs with minimal supervision from project engineers.
  • Interpret sketches, computer models, and verbal instructions from engineers or designers to ascertain the necessary views, detail drawings, and supplementary information for assignments.
  • Select relevant data from software, manufacturer catalogs, and technical references.
  • Provide mentorship and training to junior CAD personnel and may lead small to medium-sized teams to meet project commitments.
  • Offer solutions for complex challenges.
  • Occasionally interpret general designs from others to finalize minor details.
  • May coordinate and plan large, complex drafting projects.
  • Organize tasks to ensure timely completion of assignments.
  • Understand the reference/model file concept for creating construction drawing packages.
  • Manipulate multiple reference/model files to produce specific discipline plan drawings and sections/details.
  • Ensure proper organization and filing of drawings.
  • Develop interoffice relationships to facilitate execution support with general oversight.
  • Conduct plan checks for adherence to standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical school diploma, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in CAD design and detailing for bridges and other transportation structures, such as retaining walls and culverts.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision from engineers.
  • Capable of interpreting and applying client-specific CAD standards.
  • Familiarity with project scopes, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment.
  • Knowledge of discipline-specific methods and practices to ensure effective coordination with other disciplines.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound decision-making abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 15 years of relevant experience.
