Role Summary

The Senior CAD Designer is responsible for utilizing advanced technology to create comprehensive civil engineering plans for a variety of land development initiatives across commercial, residential, and municipal domains. This role encompasses the development of designs for site layouts, utilities, grading, and stormwater management, guiding projects from initial concept through to finalized construction documentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and refine detailed civil engineering plans for diverse land development projects within commercial, residential, and municipal sectors.
  • Analyze and design engineering systems pertinent to land development and utility management.
  • Generate and present calculations for site grading, utility establishment, and roadway specifications to be translated into actionable drawings.
  • Employ software tools to produce intricate 2D and 3D designs for complex engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with project teams to define timelines and budgets while addressing any arising challenges.
  • Stay informed on industry advancements, standards, best practices, and software technology updates.
  • Evaluate situational data to devise innovative solutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of AutoCAD data files produced.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in setting up and managing AutoCAD drafting and plan preparation according to established standards with minimal supervision.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surfaces, earthworks, profiles, and sections.
  • Ability to perform fundamental calculations such as slopes and grades.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, facilitating effective communication across various teams and levels.
  • High attention to detail, self-motivated, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in CAD or a related field (preferred).
  • Technical certification in AutoCAD/Drafting.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is mandatory.
  • Previous experience in land development is essential.
  • Experience with single-family and master-planned developments is preferred.
