Job Title: Director of Student Financial Aid

The Director of Student Financial Aid is a key member of the SAE Institute team, responsible for overseeing all student account functions, including student billing, cashiering operations, and financial aid management. This is a permanent full-time onsite position, requiring the incumbent to commute to the Nashville campus.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and execute campus day-to-day financial aid activities, including financial packaging, advising, and Title IV eligibility.
  • Determine student eligibility for federal, state, institutional, and private sources of financial aid, ensuring compliance with guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide entrance and exit counseling to students, promoting responsible debt management and regulatory compliance.
  • Process timely student payments and reconcile all student payments.
  • Ensure accurate billing of tuition, fees, and other student charges.
  • Manage collection administration for past due accounts.
  • Disburse student financial aid and review and process student refunds.
  • Monitor satisfactory academic progress and maintain accountability systems.
  • Organize and manage data maintenance for out-of-school borrower services in CampusVue and NSLDS systems.
  • Communicate effectively with students via email, providing information and responding to requests.
  • Perform Professional Judgment reviews in individual cases regarding cost of education, family contribution, and dependency status.
  • Exercise professional judgment and initiative to recommend process improvements within Enrollment Services.
  • Establish and adhere to disbursal, recordkeeping, reporting, and verification procedures, as well as data entry functions necessary to support programs.
  • Provide excellent customer service, resolving serious complaints, maintaining key relationships, and handling high-profile meetings.
  • Communicate frequently with federal and state agencies, financial institutions, campus offices, high school counselors, and administrators.
  • May supervise non-exempt staff.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in timely collections, with 80% of aid paid by the end of the 5th week of term.
  • Maintain clean files for compliance with federal/state regulations, SAE policies, and procedures, with less than a 10% comment rate per term and less than a 5% potential liability rate for the year.
  • Train new Financial Aid Representatives.
  • Follow up on outstanding documentation and arrange for follow-up or final FA appointments with prospective and continuing students via email, message board, telephone, chat, and other communication methods.
  • Monitor, create, and complete contact activities daily to track activity, identify pending issues, and plan future work.
