MCS of Tampa is seeking an Electrical Technician Trainee. This is a full-time, permanent role that includes a comprehensive benefits package.

The ideal candidate will possess the capability to read, interpret, and implement drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications for the installation of commercial electrical systems.

Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team are essential. Candidates should stay informed about industry trends and relevant government regulations.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Install, repair, or replace electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic lines, lighting, and various electrical components.
  • Install, repair, or replace generators and industrial storage batteries.
  • Set up electrical circuits, panels, conduits, protective devices, switches, and equipment in compliance with the CEC and/or NEC.
  • Maintain and calibrate industrial equipment and associated devices.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Stay updated on the NEC.
  • Read and comprehend blueprints and schematics.

Qualifications:
Educational Background:
High School diploma or equivalent; apprenticeship training is preferred.
Certification:
Must be able to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.
Experience:
A thorough understanding of electrical codes and standards is required. Candidates must enroll in the IEC program (currently enrolled candidates are preferred). Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints is necessary. Candidates should be skilled in using basic hand tools and power tools. Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of safe working practices (e.g., OSHA, Lock Out / Tag Out) is essential. A clean background is necessary, with the ability to pass a drug screening. Flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of overtime, is expected. Candidates must be able to climb ladders and have reliable transportation, as many locations are not accessible via public transport.
Work Environment:
Work assignments may vary based on client needs. Tasks may be performed inside a large facility or in the field, which may involve exposure to various environmental conditions such as heat, dust, cold, moisture, or wind.

Physical Requirements:
The role may require climbing ladders and working in confined spaces. Candidates must be capable of sitting, stooping, kneeling, or crouching for extended periods. The position may involve operating in noisy environments with temperature variations. Candidates should be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Equipment Utilization:
General office equipment includes PCs/laptops, telephones, copiers, and servers. Field equipment includes hand tools, power tools, ladders, and test equipment. The role may require operating motor vehicles, necessitating a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Safety and Compliance:
Adherence to safety regulations and company policies is mandatory. Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certifications or licenses throughout the duration of the project or contract. Candidates must demonstrate professional behavior that fosters teamwork and enhances productivity.
