Electrical Technician Trainee

MCS of Tampa is seeking an Electrical Technician Trainee. This is a full-time, permanent role that offers comprehensive benefits.
The Electrical Technician Trainee will be responsible for interpreting and executing electrical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and adhering to electrical code specifications for commercial installations.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team are essential. Candidates should stay informed about industry advancements and relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, repair, or replace electrical wiring, outlets, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic assemblies, lighting, and various electrical components.
- Install, repair, or replace generators and industrial batteries.
- Set up electrical circuits, panels, conduits, protective devices, switches, and equipment in compliance with applicable codes.
- Maintain and calibrate industrial equipment and connected devices.
- Communicate effectively and maintain a solid understanding of electrical codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent; apprenticeship training is preferred.
Certifications:
Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.
Experience:
In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards is required. Candidates must enroll in the IEC program, with preference given to those currently enrolled. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints is necessary. Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools is essential. Candidates must be able to read, speak, and understand English, and possess knowledge of safe working practices (e.g., OSHA, Lock Out/Tag Out). A clean background and the ability to pass a drug screening are mandatory. Flexibility in work schedule, including overtime, is required. Candidates must be able to climb ladders and have reliable transportation.
Work Environment:
Work assignments may vary based on client needs, and may be performed in various settings including inside large facilities or in the field. Outside work may involve exposure to different environmental conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates may need to climb ladders and work in confined spaces. The role requires the ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and operate in noisy environments.
Additional Information:
Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining required certifications. Candidates must demonstrate professional behavior that fosters teamwork and productivity. Effective communication with various stakeholders is crucial. Adherence to OSHA standards is required.
