MCS of Tampa is seeking an Electrical Technician Trainee. This is a full-time, permanent role that includes a comprehensive benefits package.
The Electrical Technician Trainee is expected to proficiently read, interpret, and implement technical drawings, schematics, blueprints, and electrical code specifications pertinent to commercial electrical installations. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team are essential. Staying informed about industry advancements and relevant government regulations is crucial.
Key Responsibilities:
- Installing, repairing, or replacing electrical wiring, outlets, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber-optic lines, lighting systems, and various electrical components.
- Installing, repairing, or replacing generators and industrial batteries.
- Setting up electrical circuits, panels, conduits, protective devices, switches, and equipment in compliance with the CEC and/or NEC.
- Maintaining and calibrating industrial machinery and associated devices.
- Communicating effectively and clearly.
- Keeping up-to-date with the NEC.
- Interpreting and understanding blueprints and schematics.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent; apprenticeship training is preferred.
Certifications: Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge.
Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards is required.
- Enrollment in the IEC program is necessary (currently enrolled candidates are preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in using basic hand tools and power tools.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Familiarity with safe working practices (e.g., OSHA, Lock Out / Tag Out).
- A clean background check and the ability to pass a drug screening are mandatory.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including potential overtime.
- Capability to climb ladders.
- Must have reliable transportation, as many locations are not accessible via public transport.
- Work assignments may vary based on client needs.
- Tasks may be performed in a large facility, which could include cubicle settings with varying noise levels and lighting conditions.
- Fieldwork may involve exposure to diverse environmental conditions such as heat, dust, cold, and wind.
- Ability to climb ladders and work at heights or in confined spaces.
- Capability to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- General office equipment includes PCs/laptops, telephones, and copiers.
- Field equipment encompasses hand tools, power tools, ladders, and testing devices.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record are essential for operating company vehicles.
- Travel requirements may vary; not all positions necessitate travel.
- Employment is contingent upon obtaining and maintaining necessary certifications or licenses.
- Professional behavior that encourages teamwork and enhances productivity is expected.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for interaction with various stakeholders.
- Compliance with grooming and dress standards is required based on the work environment.
- This position may require a US government security clearance.
