Position Summary
The Crisis Center of Tampa Bay is dedicated to providing support, hope, and recovery to individuals facing significant life challenges or trauma, including but not limited to, sexual assault, domestic violence, financial hardships, substance misuse, medical emergencies, and emotional crises.

The Emergency Medical Technician Trainee role is integral to this mission, responsible for safely transporting individuals with various medical, physical, emotional, or developmental needs. This position requires responding to all assigned calls efficiently while ensuring the highest standards of patient care in a secure environment. The EMT Trainee will report to the Training and Quality Assurance Manager and, in their absence, to the Field Operations Supervisor or Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service as the initial point of contact, ensuring safe and respectful transportation of individuals with diverse needs.
  • Engage in the performance quality improvement (PQI) process, utilizing data to enhance service delivery and outcomes.

Additional Duties Post-Training
  • Assist higher-level personnel by providing basic first aid and life support interventions using minimal equipment during emergencies and inter-facility transports.
  • Maintain exceptional customer service and patient care standards while safely transporting individuals to appropriate facilities.
  • Participate in the PQI process to continually improve service quality.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Follow designated routes and daily manifests for transportation.
  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure operational safety.
  • Ensure patient safety and proper securing during transport.
  • Complete and maintain accurate patient and transportation documentation.
  • Maintain communication with dispatchers via radio.
  • Participate in required training and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Successful completion of required training and certifications.

Physical Demands
Must possess the ability to respond quickly to emergencies, navigate challenging environments, and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving patients.

Working Conditions
Primarily operates in a driving environment with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including availability for varying shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays.
