Position Summary

The Electrical Technician is responsible for executing and overseeing tasks related to the installation, modification, upkeep, and repair of intricate commercial and industrial electrical systems, apparatus, and fixtures. This role involves diagnosing challenging and intricate causes of electrical malfunctions in equipment and wiring; servicing and maintaining variable frequency motor drives; and ensuring the functionality of generators, switchgear, transformers, motors, relays, switches, fixtures, as well as high and low voltage feeder circuits and cables, along with various other electrical devices and electronic systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, modifies, and repairs wiring, power devices, lighting systems, and electrical circuits.
  • Services and repairs complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Installs electrical fixtures and appliances.
  • Conducts electrical tasks during construction initiatives.
  • Identifies and rectifies power failures and short circuits using volt/ohm meters, infrared cameras, and other relevant tools.
  • Performs electrical work on various devices including photoelectric cells, timers, heaters, air conditioning units, emergency generators, air compressors, and lighting controls.
  • Troubleshoots electrical-related issues.
  • Executes emergency repairs on elevators, emergency generators, and other electrical equipment.
  • Manages and tracks inventory valued up to $10,000.00.
  • Utilizes a computerized management system to document operating conditions and repairs to mechanical systems.
  • Acts as a lead worker for subordinate staff.
  • Operates a vehicle to travel to work sites; loads and unloads tools and equipment.
  • Cleans work areas upon completion of tasks.
  • Performs additional related duties as necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, on ladders, scaffolding, and lift equipment at significant heights.

Work Category

  • Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; AND
  • Three years of experience as an electrician; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that would reasonably be expected to provide the job-related competencies noted above; AND
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
