Job OverviewPosition Summary

Under the supervision of the designated Sous Chef, the Line Cook is responsible for preparing food items for guests, adhering to an approved menu. This role ensures that all food, equipment, and kitchen areas comply with established health regulations and company standards. The Line Cook also plays a key role in mentoring and training junior kitchen staff while fostering a positive work atmosphere. In the absence of higher-level kitchen staff, the Line Cook may oversee back-of-house operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new tasks and follow verbal instructions effectively.
  • Achieve proficiency in basic knife skills and time management.
  • Maintain sanitation standards throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Possess knowledge of essential food products including meats, poultry, seafood, produce, and dry goods.
  • Prepare and maintain portion control according to recipe specifications.
  • Timely preparation of Banquet Event Orders (BEO) and special event requests.
  • Ensure efficient product preparation.
  • Arrive punctually for each scheduled shift.
  • Uphold a positive attitude and promote a safe working environment.
  • Label and date all food items at designated stations and throughout the kitchen to ensure freshness and compliance with expiration standards.
  • Read and process food order tickets promptly.
  • Keep workstations organized and inventory well-stocked.
  • Complete special projects and additional tasks as assigned.

Supervisory Duties

  • Assist in training new kitchen staff to promote their professional growth.
  • Support the monitoring and enforcement of safety and health policies.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of team member information.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Three to four years of relevant cooking or food preparation experience is required.
  • Basic understanding of recipes and BEOs is essential.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • A combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge and skills is acceptable.
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States is required.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Must obtain and maintain a valid gaming commission license.
  • Required to pass drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must secure a County Food Handlers Card within seven days of hire.
