YOUR ROLE:
We are seeking a dynamic, proactive, and collaborative Senior Accounting Specialist to join our expanding Groundwork Coffee family. In this role, you will collaborate closely with various departments including Sales, Marketing, Operations, Retail, and the executive team, while reporting to the Financial Controller.

The Senior Accounting Specialist position demands excellent time management and task-oriented skills. Strong analytical abilities are essential for success in this role.

As a Senior Accounting Specialist, you will engage in diverse aspects of the coffee business, from sourcing and production to retail and wholesale distribution. COMPENSATION:

$66,560+ based on experience annually

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Payroll processing
  • Verify accuracy of employee payroll data – hours, tips, sick/PTO accruals
  • Provide financial data reports (labor, sales, deductions, etc.) to relevant departments
  • Conduct bank account reconciliations
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Process customer payments (checks, ACH, credit card)
  • Handle monthly sales commission payments
  • Review and validate customer chargebacks; initiate disputes for invalid chargebacks
  • Ensure accurate reporting of sales in the correct periods
  • Assist with month-end closing activities
  • Record payments to health insurance providers
  • Document employee 401k contributions
  • Support external audit/review processes
  • Record month-end/year-end accrual journal entries
  • Prepare quarterly sales and use tax returns
  • Assist with various financial reporting/accounting requests as needed
  • Manage billing and high-volume collection calls
  • Prepare financial reports as required
  • Process daily cash and check deposits
  • Organize and file a high volume of paperwork
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an accounting role
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards
  • Exceptional work ethic and integrity
  • Credibility, ethical conduct, and a clean financial history
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain organized documents and records
  • Experience with POS systems (e.g., Revel)
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks)
  • Experience with B2B online ordering systems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and understand CPA ethical standards
  • Capability to manage payroll responsibilities effectively
  • Accountability for specific performance metrics
  • Commitment to company values and vision
  • Willingness to work evening and weekend shifts as necessary
  • Proficient in computer applications
  • Experience with Paycom is a plus
