About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Coordinator to join our team at The Regents of the University of California on behalf of their Los Angeles Campus. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and implementing multiple programs at UCLA Hub for Health Intervention, Policy and Practice (HHIPP).

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate programmatic activities, including logistics for outreach events, engagement with community-based organizations and local/state entities, promotion of programs and events, and development of outreach materials.
  • Identify, develop, and facilitate new project opportunities for the HHIPP research team.
  • Support and manage multiple projects with various deadlines, focusing on LGBT health disparities and HIV at the intersection of mental health and substance use.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, making independent judgments and taking appropriate action.
  • Proactively identify potential problems and opportunities, and bring them to the attention of the HHIPP Director of Research Programs and Professor Ian Holloway.
Requirements
  • Understanding of health and policy issues affecting people living with HIV (PLWH) and sexual and gender minorities (SGM).
  • Understanding of the unique challenges, health disparities, and other issues affecting SGM, people at risk for HIV/AIDS, people who use drugs, people who inject, young adults, people who experience homelessness, and people who are touched by the criminal justice system.
  • Ability to provide a key leadership role and work closely with other members of the HHIPP team to achieve desired results.
  • Good literature review skills to support development of strategic planning reports, grants, and research manuscripts and technical reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing priorities and deadlines, including event planning, protocol development, study recruitment and management, and communications.
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to accuracy and detail to prepare communication materials ranging from technical research reports to marketing materials.
  • Excellent oral communication skills to work with external partners, communicate logistics, and build relationships across sectors.
  • Proven ability to work independently or as an active member of a team, and to work under pressure while maintaining flexibility needed to execute prioritized tasks.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage various activities and programs with multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to train student workers, volunteers, and other staff on program activities.
  • Ability to delegate tasks and oversee student workers, volunteers, and other staff on their work.
  • Demonstrated ability to use PC desktop computer and software such as MS Word, Excel, electronic mail, and the Internet.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Social Work, or related field, and/or equivalent experience/training.
Special Conditions of Employment
  • Candidate(s) must be 18 years or older to be eligible to be hired.
  • The position is subject to providing evidence of inoculation.
