Transportation Engineer I - Traffic Grade

APPLICATION PROCESS :
The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) is seeking candidates for the position of Transportation Engineer I - Traffic Track. This opportunity is available to all individuals who meet the essential qualifications outlined below.

This role may be based in various locations, including Hanover, Baltimore City, or any SHA District Offices across the state.

The list of qualified candidates generated from this recruitment will be utilized to fill both current and future openings within this classification throughout the agency.


Position Overview :
This is an entry-level role.

Individuals in the Transportation Engineer Career Program may be tasked with various responsibilities, including but not limited to:

- Assisting in traffic-related activities, which may involve:
- Meeting project objectives
- Developing alternative solutions
- Participating in public engagement sessions
- Evaluating design standards against project limitations
- Conducting constructability assessments
- Reviewing and creating roadway plans
- Performing inspections for proposed roadway enhancement projects
- Providing traffic and travel demand data
- Conducting or reviewing traffic engineering analyses.


Educational Requirements :
A bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, transportation, or architectural engineering from an accredited institution is required.

Experience Requirements :
No prior experience is necessary.

Important Note :

Individuals currently registered as Professional Engineers in Maryland or in a state with equivalent standards are deemed to have satisfied the educational criteria.
